One Planet City Challenge 2019 - 2020

By LCP Secretariat
March 19, 2019

On behalf of the Climate Change and Energy Unit of WWF-Philippines, I wish to invite all cities to join the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) 2019-2020. With around 400 cities participating across five continents, the competition aims to identify cities with best practices related to environmental sustainability and climate change. It also aims to mobilize cities to deliver on the Paris Agreement through their climate and sustainability plans and actions.

Cities interested in participating will report their emissions, goals, and targets using reporting platforms by the WWF. After assessing submitted entries, the latter will then guide shortlisted cities in identifying their most impactful actions that can cut their emissions and limit global warming to 1.5 °C. Finalists will then be invited to take part in WWF’s global campaign called, “We Love Cities,” which is set to take place in spring of 2020.

We highly encourage all cities to take part in this rare opportunity to enhance your respective LCCAPs under the guidance of globally renowned experts. Interested LGUs may request for a checklist of requirements by writing a letter to opcc@wwf.org.ph. Kindly note that these requirements must be submitted along with a letter of intent not later than 18 March 2019. For further information about the event, please visit wwf.panda.org/our_work/projects/one_planet_cities/one_planet_city_challenge.

Thank you very much and we look forward to your participation!
