It is the National Year of Rice 2013! The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) enjoins local government units to demonstrate meaningful actions to help achieve rice sufficiency in their respective communities. Local government units are also urged to promote responsible rice consumption among its stakeholders. For LGUs, some recommended local campaign actions are the following:

1. To pass an ordinance requiring food service to include half-cup of rice in their menus and making it a default serving of rice in set plates or meals (see below for template);
2. To display NYR tarpaulins and posters in all city halls;
3. To recite Panatang Makapalay during flag raising ceremony or at least first Monday of the month (see below for the template);
4. Incorporate local NYR advocacies during local festivals and celebrations.
