SUBJECT : 4TH NATIONAL RARE DISEASE WEEK

As decreed through Presidential Proclamation No. 1989 released on February 8, 2010, the last week of February is declared as the National Rare Disease Week. Over the past four years, there has been an increasing awareness and participation from both the government and private sectors to support this marginalized sector.

This year, the Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders, Inc. will be observing the event from the 22nd to the 28th of February with the theme: “Rare Disorders Without Borders.” On the 28th, the Philippine event coincides with the international celebration of the 6th World Rare Disease Day. It is aimed that all stakeholders such as relevant government agencies, healthcare institutions, local government units, non-government organizations, the media and other concerned agencies will be actively involved in the observance of this event.

To celebrate the event, PSOD invites our member – cities to participate in this year’s activities by undertaking the following:

1. Inclusion of the event announcement in your respective websites.
2. Tarpaulin display in strategic locations within the city government office vicinity.
3. Participate in the “WEAR THAT YOU CARE” Campaign.
