RE : Invitation to all city mayors to participate in the local government code review consultation organized by the department of the interior and local government (dilg) in partnership with local government leagues

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has initiated a review and consultation with the local government units for the proposed local government code amendments. The initiative is made possible in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and in coordination with local government leagues.

The review of the code will focus on the fiscal aspect particularly in the areas of – 1) Expenditure Assignment; 2) Revenue Assignment; 3) Inter-Governmental Transfer; 4) LGU Credit Financing; 5) Inter-LGU alliances; 6) Creation of LGUs; and 7) Local Fiscal Administration. The activity seeks to come up with amendments amenable and beneficial to all local government units. The consultation will be by geographical cluster where all local chief executives (mayors and governors) will be invited to share their views and agree on the direction of local government reforms. The policies that will be identified as priority will be advocated this 16th Congress.

In this regard, we would like to enjoin all city mayors to attend the following geographical consultation:

Luzon Cities

September 11-12, 2014

Bay View Hotel, Manila

Visayas Cities

September 18-19, 2014

Crown Regency Hotel, Cebu City

Mindanao Cities

September 30-October 1, 2014

Davao

 

DILG will issue a Memorandum Circular enjoining local chief executives to attend the event. The invitation is extended to CITY MAYORS ONLY. The DILG will cover your one (1) overnight hotel accommodation. Please confirm your attendance by sending us the attached Reply Slip at fax no. (02) 470-7210 on or before September 5, 2014. The Secretariat will coordinate with your office for confirmation. We will also send via e-mail all the related materials and briefers in preparation for this activity. For easy reference, related materials are posted in the download section of LCP website, www.lcp.org.ph.
